No. Health insurance companies generally don't fund weight loss medicine, therefore I am not registered with any company.
£200. Thats it. Flat fee. No repeat prescription charges. During the consultation I will assess various elements of your health including weight, past medical history, mood scores and current medication. You will have hands on practice at self administration of medication as I need to be satisfied you can inject safely. No one else does this. I may need to review you to assess progress a few months later, costing £50.
Unlike any other provider of Weight loss management in Jersey, I am at my patient's call 7 days a week. Simply use the Contact Us or WhatsApp function on the website.
Common Side Effects
While on medication, you may experience the following side effects:
• Headaches: Stay hydrated and use paracetamol if needed.
• Nausea: This is often worse in the first month and can be related to hunger.
• Stomach upset: This may include loose stools or constipation.
• Heartburn: More common in smokers; remedies like Gaviscon or over-the-counter acid suppressants (e.g., Nexium) can help.
If you feel that weight loss is happening too quickly, we may need to adjust the dose or stop the medication altogether. Always feel free to contact me or book an appointment if you have concerns.
In clinic I will go through the side effects and encourage you to read the patient leaflet I give to you and the one that comes with the medication.
Weight loss, like weight gain, is a gradual process—it takes time and commitment. As with any medication, there can be challenges, and you’ll need support and guidance every step of the way.
There may be occasional hiccups or questions, and it’s essential to ensure you are meeting the goals we set during your initial consultation. My priority is for you to lose weight at a healthy and sustainable rate, as rapid weight loss can pose risks. This journey shouldn’t feel like torture—it should be a positive and enjoyable process.
What to Expect
1. Initial Consultation:
During your first visit, I will:
• Take a detailed medical history.
• Measure your weight and height to formally calculate your BMI.
• Review your current medications and health conditions to ensure this treatment is safe and appropriate for you.
2. Medication Training:
You’ll receive:
• Step-by-step guidance on how to administer the medication, including injection technique.
• Instructions on managing sharps disposal and proper medication storage.
• A comprehensive patient information bundle to help you navigate life while on weight loss medication.
3. Ongoing Support
Some individuals may not tolerate the medication, and others may not respond as expected which is why there is always an opportunity to book back in to see me in clinic.
As with any medical treatment, there may be times when you need extra support. If you encounter difficulties, have questions, or need adjustments to your plan, you’re welcome to book a consultation at any time.
Remember, this is a journey we’ll undertake together, with your health and well-being at the centre of every decision.
Every pharmacy on Jersey charges different amounts.
Prices for prescription only medications cannot be advertised directly to the public.
What you find is that you reduce your food and alcohol intake whilst on this medication. So the cost of the pen is covered in reduction of food/alcohol intake, effectively paying for itself. Also there are other longer term financial benefits of improving your physical health.
4 doses, a month. Please note that with all pens there is some residual medicine left in the glass cartridge. This is normal.
You do not bring the full boxes to the clinic for disposal. There is a designated yellow bin at the Enid Quenault Centre at Quennevais (former Quennevais School site now new outpatients department) or to the Jersey General Hospital Outpatient department where there is a designated yellow bin.
At present (11/1/25) I do not charge repeat fees. This is covered in your initial consultation fee, unlike other individuals/organisations. I can only prescribe for patients that I have 'onboarded' for a particular medication I need to ensure you are suitable for that prescription including BMI.
Via the website. On the Booking & Repeat Prescription Page. You must include all key data. You must already be a patient Dr Rob Greig's weight management clinic. Please allow 2 weeks for the dispensing of the medication.
The needles used are ultrafine and are commonly used by people with diabetes every day. A good starting point for injections is the skin on the thigh while seated. Gently slapping the skin beforehand can help “distract” you from the sensation. Over time, most people find they can inject into the abdominal wall with minimal thought.
When injecting into the abdomen, avoid areas where your clothing or waistband regularly contacts the skin to reduce irritation.
You may notice a slight nip initially, but most people adapt quickly and find it becomes second nature. As the dosage increases, the injected volume also increases, which can make the injections feel less comfortable. However, the mild discomfort is something you get used to rapidly and soon stop noticing altogether.
I will have explained this all in clinic.
You can choose to track your weight, but only if you feel mentally prepared and can avoid becoming overly focused on the numbers.
Everyone’s weight loss journey is unique, and there is no universal rule for how or when weight should come off.
Rapid weight loss is not the goal and can pose health risks. For example, many individuals with raised BMI also have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and losing weight too quickly can put additional strain on the liver.
This is a two-year plan, not a six-week quick fix.
Sustainable weight loss takes time, and as the weight comes off, you’ll naturally feel motivated to explore other healthy lifestyle changes, such as exercise and improved diet. That’s where our expert team—Philip Blake (psychotherapist), Laura Foster (dietitian), and Vic Kelly (personal trainer)—can provide personalised support (see the Weight Clinic Team page for more details).
Remember, just as you gained weight gradually, it’s important to reduce it at a steady and safe pace for long-term success.
